Sculpture
Artist Statement:
Not only do I love using found objects to create my sculpture, but I also love the search for these objects at antique stores, flea markets, used bookstores, garage sales, hardware stores, junk yards and even in the dumpsters in back alleys. Each found object had a story to tell, however when I combine them together strange juxtapositions immerge, creating complex objects far different than their intended purposes. I enjoy playing off the duality of its past life purpose along with its new meaning.
Process/Technique:
One of the hardest things about working in found objects is finding enough interesting objects and being able to store them logically for future use. Another challenge is to adhere two dissimilar materials together in a secure fashion and in an inconspicuous manner.
On any one piece I may use multiple techniques to join all the parts such as; welding, hot gluing, drilling, tap and die, caulk, different types of glues, screws or wires.
